Is it possible to understand what is inside archive on the web site without full downloading? For example, I want to know where there is pdf file inside. If yes, I will download such zip/rar, if no - I'll skip it. So, is it possible to get small part of the archive and decompress folder/file structure?
For ZIP files you will want to grab all the central directory records at the end of the file. You do this by grabbing enough of the last data and look for the End of central directory record (EOCD). This should be the last 22 bytes starting with 0x06054b50 if there is no comment. This record has an offset of where the central directory will start, relative to the start of the archive. Then you make sure if you have downloaded all that data in the first grab or if you need to grab some more again. After that you just have to interpret the central directory file headers to see if there is a PDF file inside the ZIP. Info about the file format can be found on the Wikipedia page or in one of the references over there.

If you have downloaded only one part of a split RAR file, it is not the last part, and you attempt to open that one part, it is likely that a WinZip dialog will display asking for the next part. For instance, if you saved sources.part01.rar in C:\Downloads, the dialog would ask you to:
A .zip or .rar file is a file that stores and compresses one or more other files. Recently, I tried downloading albums from my Flickr account, but I often received the same error message when opening the .zip file: Unexpceted end of archive. Very frustrating; the message was still there even after redownloading that zip file.
RAR files are used to transfer or store huge files, like when you download your data from Google or Facebook, or send gigabytes of data as image, audio, or video files. Compressing the files into a single RAR file lets you speed up transfer and download times.
WinRAR is an app for Windows 11, 10, 8, and 7 that you can download and use for free during the trial period to open RAR files. It was created by the same developers who came up with the .rar file format, and you can also use it to create RAR files.

Generally, a download manager enables downloading of large files or multiples files in one session. Many web browsers, such as Internet Explorer 9, include a download manager. Stand-alone download managers also are available, including the Microsoft Download Manager.
The Microsoft Download Manager solves these potential problems. It gives you the ability to download multiple files at one time and download large files quickly and reliably. It also allows you to suspend active downloads and resume downloads that have failed.
All of us from time to time receive digital archive packages, whether they are downloaded online or get sent over by our friends. Occasionally, we might be even packaging and distributing archives ourselves. But few of us stop and think why exactly do we do this.
I usually download using IDM and all of my downloads are direct links. I had an old computer before and I used to download from certain sites without no problem. Other users don't have any problems too. But recently I use a new computer and I use the same program to download from the same sites.
But 50% of RAR files I download are corrupted. Last night I downloaded a 10GB RAR file using Bittorrent and again it's corrupted and the MD5 checksum is different from the MD5 the original site shows. Can you tell me what is the main problem ?
Sometimes is corrupted even original archive file (error in uploading) but if MD5 is different (and if others don't "flag" those), you just must try to download this file again.Or find other distribution channel for yours data.

The command line method should work basically every time, as it will forcibly extract even partially downloaded files. If you know the file is only partially downloaded though (by way of checking md5 hash or otherwise), you really ought to just download the file again.
Sometimes you'll download a large file and find that instead of the single file you wanted, your folder is full of .001 .002 .003 or .r01 .r02 .r03 files. These files are part of a split RAR archive. Much like a zip file, a RAR file is a compressed version of what you downloaded. Rather than transmit in a single file, it's spread out over these several files -- usually to speed downloading or to accommodate the file size limit of a commercial file storage host.
I use µTorrent, but I think I can do this from this.. So is there any solution? I don't like downloading a RAR file from Torrent around 1 GB and find at last that the RAR file does not contain files I need or is corrupt.
If re-downloading the archive file doesn't solve the problem, you can check for disk errors on your computer using a third-party tool called EaseUS Partition Master. This tool is an efficient disk performance optimizer that allows you to clean up your USB and hard drives.
You may encounter the archive error because you downloaded your zip file from unofficial websites. As such, there are chances that the file contains some virus or malware. To solve this issue on Windows, you can scan for viruses to open Windows Defender using the following steps:
Step 7. Upon selecting the file, click on "Scan now" to start checking for viruses. If the system detects a virus, you'll need to delete the zip file and download another one from the official or known website.
This article has discussed the common causes of the error "the archive is either in unknown format or damaged." The possible ways to fix this error include re-downloading the files, checking for disk errors using EaseUS Partition Master, repairing archives using WinRAR, using Windows default decompressor, or scanning for viruses via Windows Defender Security Center. We believe the best technique to fix this archive error is via EaseUS Partition Master.
RAR files (Roshal Archive Compressed File) is one of the most common archive file format, used extensively on the Internet for high data transmission and sharing. People use these compressed archive files to reduce the overall size and bundle together files and even folders into a single file. That single RAR file is then small enough to send via email or other sharing methods.Similar to other file types such as ZIP files, RAR files are data containers as well. If you want to use the files in the container after downloading, you must unzip or unarchive it.
The new Oracle Technology Network License Agreement for Oracle Java SE is substantially different from prior Oracle JDK licenses. Please review the terms carefully before downloading and using this product. An FAQ is available here.
Knowing how to open RAR files can be a useful skill if you're regularly downloading different drives, files, and applications from third-party websites. Unlike zip files, RAR files aren't natively supported by Windows, so you'll need an application specifically designed to handle them.
